ST001, stereo set

Regular price 29.800,00 kr
Solid red oak horn-mounted bookshelf speaker system

Stereotype’s ST001 is a high-end active stereo bookshelf speaker set in red oak veneer with a solid red oak horn. Each speaker uses a front-mounted 6.5” mid-low driver, a rear-mounted 6.5” woofer and a horn-mounted dome tweeter. Red oak cabinet, replaceable magnetic fabric grille from Kvadrat, stainless steel plate with our Magic Fox icon. 600 watts of Class D amplification per speaker (4 channels per speaker, 150 W per channel), DSP tuned for a flat frequency response (±2 dB from below 21 Hz to 30 kHz).

In short, it sounds really good and can punch some real bass out.

Connects natively via WiSA transmitter to Tidal, Spotify, AirPlay, Chromecast, Bluetooth and more, but can also be wired directly through its XLR ports. Includes the Stereotype app for optional room correction and setup. Set it up with your Wi-Fi once and use it natively with the most common streaming apps.

The price is for one set, and a set includes 2 speakers, 2 Kvadrat fabric grilles, power cables and 1 WiSA transmitter. Only sold as sets/full system.

Performance

The ST001 is ±2 dB from 21 Hz to 30 kHz.

The amplifier's built-in DSP acts as a digital crossover, splitting the signal between the tweeter, mid-low and woofer with far more precision than passive components can manage. It also equalizes, corrects timing, phase and frequency response, and adds the option of room correction.

The plots show on-axis response holding flat from 21 Hz out to 30 kHz. The listening window is wide, making the ST001 suited to a variety of rooms and sizes regardless of listening position. Sound power and directivity stay smooth across the crossover region, so the speaker holds together whether you're directly in front of it or off to the side. The horn gives controlled, even dispersion, and off-axis the response tapers off naturally without any sudden tonality changes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Setup & Connectivity
Do I need an amplifier or receiver?

No. The ST001 is active. Each speaker has its own amplification built in.

How do the speakers talk to each other?

They don't, directly. Each speaker receives its channel — left or right — wirelessly from the WiSA transmitter. No cable between them.

Can I plug them in with cables instead?

Yes. Each speaker has balanced XLR inputs if you'd rather wire them up.

Which streaming services work natively?

Spotify, Tidal, AirPlay, Chromecast, Bluetooth and more. Set it up with your wi-fi once and stream from whichever app you use.

Does it work with my TV?

Yes, via the wired inputs. HDMI is great. Latency is 2.6 ms — most people consider anything under 15 ms lag-free.

How do I set it up with my LP player?

You'll need something between the turntable and the ST001 that handles the phono signal. Either a phono stage built into your turntable, an external phono preamp, or a preamp with a phono input. Once the signal is line-level, you can run it into the WiSA transmitter or straight into the speakers via XLR.

Can I use the ST001 with my existing hi-fi setup?

Yes. The XLR inputs accept anything with a line-level output — DACs, phono stages, preamps.

Sound & Performance
What size room is the ST001 suited for?

20-80 m². They get plenty loud for small bars and gatherings too.

Can I add a subwoofer?

Yes, either a WiSa supported one or a daisy-chained XLR (if you only plan to use XLR) with its own cut-off for the other speakers. We're also developing one, so hold your horses if you don't have a sub yet. That said, the ST001 has serious low-end on its own.

What's the maximum output?

SPL specs are almost always imprecise. In practice they go very loud in rooms up to ~50 m² and work well in small bars and gatherings. We had a party with 80 people with no issues, but it’s not club loud

How does room correction work?

Through the Stereotype app. It measures your room and adjusts the DSP to flatten the in-room response.

Do I need the app to use them?

No. But you'll need it if you want room correction or to put them on Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi isn't required if you're using Bluetooth or wired, but we strongly recommend wi-fi over Bluetooth: more reliable, higher bitrate, better sound. Bluetooth was never meant to transport music.

Physical & Build
How big and heavy are they?

21 × 28 × 38 cm, 10 kg each.

What finishes are available?

Red oak veneer cabinet with a solid red oak horn. More finishes coming.

Can I wall-mount them?

Not on the current version. Stands or shelves only. Future units will have threaded inserts for brackets.

Are the grilles removable?

Yes. Magnetic Kvadrat fabric grilles, easy to swap.

What's in the box?

A pair of ST001 speakers with grilles attached, the WiSA transmitter, power cables, and a quick-start guide.

Records
Which turntable do you recommend?

The Technics SL-1210. It's been around forever for a reason.

Purchase & Support
What's the warranty?

2 years.

Can I try them and return them?

Not currently — we're a very small shop. You can come hear them at one of our events, or emailjesper@stereotypehifi.comand we'll figure out a trial. If anything goes wrong after purchase, reach out and we'll fix it as fast as we can.

Where do you ship to?

EU countries currently. Reach out if you want them delivered elsewhere and we'll see what we can do.

Is the price per speaker or per set?

Per set. 3.990 EUR / 29.800 DKK for the pair, including the WiSA transmitter.

Manufacturing & B2B
Do you produce them in-house?

No. We source from the best in the industry. Cabinets are built and assembled in Indonesia, tuning and design are done in Denmark. We also work with a smaller German workshop for prototypes and custom runs.

Do you do custom speakers?

Yes. Reach out to jesper@stereotypehifi.com.

Do you offer a trade program for architects and similar?

Yes. Reach out to jesper@stereotypehifi.com.

I'm a retailer, can I stock your speakers?

We're currently assessing when and how to expand into retail. Reach out to jesper@stereotypehifi.com for inquiries.
